Darkrooms

Darkrooms are something that you don't really hear about as much as you use to. people have really gotten away from darkrooms as digital cameras have really put a dent in the use of them. Before the computer really darkrooms could be found very often in someone's basement or in a garage. Now with the computer and the ability to print things on demand darkrooms are becoming somewhat of a dinosaur these days. The question is do you really need darkrooms is continually to be debated. For the most part I would say no you won't need a darkroom. With digital camera most of the reprints that you need can be print on your computer or even at print shops as the cost is really cheap compared to the money you would spend get the things you need for a darkroom. As more and more digital cameras are bought the darkrooms around the country will be used even less. I really can't see darkrooms being used much anymore except for people who actually want to make alot of enlargements. Even that though you can use them at a print shop to do those jobs.

Their was a time that darkrooms was what everyone used and now it's something people don't even think about. With memory cards in cameras and less and less film being made and sold has really hurt the needs for darkrooms. Will darkrooms make a comeback anytime soon. I really don't look for that to happen anytime soon. people hate spending extra time doing things and basically that's what a darkroom is in today's world. Digital cameras are something that has really taken away alot of different things including darkrooms. Darkrooms were something that many people got their first taste of photography. Photography classes in high schools had darkrooms and people would come home and create their own and develop their own pictures. Darkrooms are something that probably has and will always remember as a part of our childhoods. One day we will want to remember the darkroom, but for now the darkrooms are slowing becoming something in our past as we usher in new technology all the time.

What the future holds I really can't say all I know is that darkrooms are slowly vanishing and will be gone eventually in a few years. it's a shame as many people got their first taste of developing film inside darkrooms.
