Gel Filters

Gel filters are filters that usually snap on lenses and come in various colors to let light shine through them and produce the color in your picture. As an example if you know your picture is missing a certain color or has less of that in your picture than gel filters are used. These are usually use the most by professional photographers and studios who know how to use them to get the most out of them. The amateur photographer should probably stay away from these until they become more familiar with their use and how to use them properly or the result could be something that they don't like. Many different companies make gel filters and holders for them. Gel filters is something the average photographer probably will never get into, but they are good for people who understand their use. Pictures can sometimes lose their contrast or color in certain areas of the picture. One example is if your taking pictures in a area with a little shade. These gel filters can be added to brighten up the shady area so your picture will look alot better. Gel filters in recent years have become a little more popular, but they also have their detractors.

Many of the cameras today can compensate for the light and color levels so people think they are a waste of money. The professional photographer likes them as it gives them another tool if they need it to make their picture stand out from the crowd. As you can see their are two sides to the gel filter issue and I imagine in the coming years it will just heat up even more. Some people love them and some people hate them. It's all on what side of the fence you are with gel filters. Gel filters have a use for people and if used properly it can liven up your pictures and sometimes fix some issues you may have. I guess it's like anything else people will have to try and see if they like them. if not than they will have to move on and that will be something that is up to the individual. Gel filters will be here and it's your choice to use them or not and many people will not, but some will.
